Volunteer
SARD depends on its volunteers to impact new communities and patients all over the world. They are the backbone of our organization, and nothing would be possible without their help!

All volunteers can:
- Hold donation drives
- Mail in donations (for Books and Toys and Care Packages projects)
- Take part in the Letters and Arts project
- Fundraise

Only volunteers in a chapter can:
- Make care packages
- Hold connections events

Only Student Advocates can
- Get service hours
- Write for SARD stories

Start a donation drive or donate items/money
Donation drives help us run all of our projects. If you would like to donate items, check out the donation drives page to see what we are collecting to find a donation drive near you. If there is not a donation drive in your area, you can host your own. Money donations are also needed to help sponsor our projects.

Start a chapter
Our chapters consist of community groups full of dedicated volunteers and led by passionate, involved leaders. All of our chapters embody SARD's values and help to extend influence into regions all over the world–helping aid more patients with rare diseases, their families, caretakers, and medical professionals.
Starting a chapter requires consistent effort, commitment, and leadership skills. Are you interested in starting a chapter? Click the button on the right to view chapter requirements and register!
Become a Student Advocate*
*Only for students
SARD's Student Advocates program brings together students from all over the world, helping to raise the next generation of volunteers and advocates. The student-only initiative provides a safe environment where students can help the rare disease community, medical professionals, and caretakers with kids their age. The program is great for any application and offers student-only opportunities such as leadership.
